Caring for Tomorrow's Children
The Objective
To provide education to parents about the importance of prenatal and well-baby care and immunizations for children ages birth to two.
Caring for Tomorrow's Children/Having a Healthy Baby Book
Caring for Tomorrow’s Children addresses the state’s problem of infant mortality and birth defects. The program aims to create an awareness of South Carolina’s high infant mortality rate. It also aims to educate the public about the need for prenatal and pediatric care.
Any woman in South Carolina, regardless of location or income, who is pregnant or who has a child under the age of two, is eligible for a Caring for Tomorrow’s Children book.
The Caring for Tomorrow’s Children book is available in English and Spanish. The book is free and can be requested individually or in bulk (32 per box) to providers such as doctor’s offices, health care providers, health departments, and other state agencies. The book can also be obtained through DHEC/Care Line by calling their toll-free hot line at (800) 868-0404.
